Early in December, Christians in Jordan begin to get into the Christmas mood by preparing and eating seasonal sweets and various cakes and pastries. They do their Christmas shopping and take time to decorate their homes. On Christmas Eve, everyone gathers together in the home of the oldest member of the extended family.
Santa Claus makes his appearances in Amman and other cities during the season. In some towns in northern Jordan, the majority of the town is Christian. You may see more religious celebration of Christmas in these areas. But you can see a commercialised version of the holiday celebrated throughout the land.
