Labour Day in Armenia is observed on 1 May each year. The day came to be on Armenia’s holiday calendar due to its former association with the USSR, but even after the fall of Communism, Armenia kept the holiday. Today, it stands for the promotion of free and fair labour practices.

Traditionally, Labour Day in Armenia is a time for public worker demonstrations, music concerts, and festive cultural celebrations. Most people get the day off and take the time to celebrate it.
But Workers’ Day isn’t the only holiday around this time of year. May is somewhat packed with holidays. On 8 May, it is the Day of the Liberation of Shushi, 9 May is Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, and 28 May is First Republic Day.
