International Women’s Day in Armenia is held every 8 March to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a day used to highlight ongoing gender inequality and to call for further change.

Armenia doesn’t just celebrate Women’s Day, they celebrate Women’s Month. This time of honouring women begins on 8 March, International Women’s Day, and continues through to the Beauty and Motherhood Day observance on 7 April.
On 8 March, women usually are not required to work at all, either at the workplace or in the home. They typically spend the day shopping, and there are lots of special discounts to be found! Also during this month, employers may give women flowers and other special treatment.
However, some still believe there is inequality for women in Armenia, so you will still see some women attending special women’s rights events and the like. Armenia is certainly a place where women receive better treatment than in many other nations, but equal pay and equal opportunities in politics and in leaderships are still pursued by many Armenian women.
